The cold to hot graph increase when cold. My wife's 97/850 T5 engine was losing coolant, so I took it off the road, since she tends to warp heads instead of watching the gauges. Couldn't see where it was going so I thought it was the head gasket. Did a compression test and the cylinders were all fine. This doesn't mean that it won't leak between other parts of the gasket. Finally the weather was warmer so I filled the anti-freeze up and drove the car. Bought the head gasket and the twelve bolts, then I realized that I needed to manufacture special tools for the job. Stopped for gasoline and finally saw the coolant leaking. Just a coolant hose that only leaked after the thermostat opened. Since the car has an under pan, the coolant never showed on the ground. had to dig deep for this one. I was ammassed that the Turbo 5 cylinder 20 valve engine is all aluminium. I can only say that the head bolt on this engine are torque to yield at 130 degree , so it's going to take alot to warp this head with twelve bolts. Local price for one hose, $72.50 - Rockauto all four hoses shipped - $27.50. Can't wait for the shipment to arrive.
