Question - I pulled the inner driver out on the passenger side. When I got it out(with out doing anything to get the exuast pipe out of the way) a spring popped out with it. It looks like it sits in the hollow end of the shaft. On one end of the spring there is like a metal rod or plunger or something. When I put this back toghether, what end goes in to the shaft, and which end sticks out? ALso, I seem to remember reading somwhere that as long as the cv joint is out of the wheel hub, that wheel should not support the weight of the car. Said it would damage the wheel bearing. This just doesn't make sense to me, but til I hear other wise, I'm leaving it up on jack stands. (I reattatched the ball joints) The problem is that I am doing the work in the driveway of my condo (God I hate condos) and the president of the association is my neighbor. Nice guy, but I'm sure he has obligations, and I'm just waiting for a knock on my door. I kind of got the shaft (no pun intended) by a local parts supplier. He quoted me $224 for an inner driver, then failed to deliver. I over paid on the o ring by like $7, and the oil seal by like $15, and the drive shaft by like $40 (he misquoted the price when I ordered) Then he failed to deliver on the inner driver. So now the car is on jack stands for another week. I'll just do everything thru E-europarts from now on.
