Power steering leak, from rack to inner tie rod boot

1988 SPG. Car had power steering leak at the reservior (so what else is new). I changed the hoses, etc then purged the fluid with new stuff that includes a sealing compound. That was a few years ago. Today I was putting new tires on the car and noted a tear in the inner tie rod boot. Upon pull that off, out came a very significant amount of very old (orange) power steering fluid, suggesting a leak in the rack. But there is no decline in the fluid level at the reservior since I changed the hoses.
I had my son turn the wheel back an forth with the motor running while inspected both sides of the rack (with inner boots removed) for leak, none seen. It appears that the sealing compound in the new fluid has restored the faulty seal and now no leaks. Lucky me as I don't really feel like replacing the rack.
Anyone else seen internal leaks go away? Should I expect this bliss to be only temporary?
