I do it all the time but not by unscrewing the flare nuts.
You need to use a Dremel or high speed grinder with a cutting disc and very carefully split the crimped sleeve almost all the way to the bottom.
Then you take a screwdriver or other prying device and crack the sleeve open and use a knife to split the hose inside and work it off the pipe fitting.
Then you use 3/8" oil and heat resistant bulk hose and two hose clamps in each end.
That will work just as long as the genuine hoses and when they go bad the next time, they are even easier to replace.
