I drive a newer 9-5 and will honestly say that I miss my C900. I have driven them since I got my license, and I have never had one leave me stranded for a mechanical reason. And I didn't buy the nicest ones either. I think the most I ever spent on one was $600. They are good hearty cars that can take a lot of abuse. They were made to be driven in all kinds of conditions and designed to be repaired by the weekend mechanic. That is one of the things that I loved so much about it.
I was sold on it after I was in an accident in one. I was rear ended at 45 mph. The minivan that hit me was totalled and the woman taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. I drove away with broken shock mounts. I bought that car on eBay for $350, did nothing to it and put over 75,000 miles on it. It was 30 miles shy of 300,000 miles when it was hit. The claims adjuster who inspected the damage on my car said if I were in anything else, I wouldn't have driven away. Because of the age and mileage, the insurance company considered it totalled and paid me out a healthy $2,400 - $2,000 more than I paid for it. Not bad...
If for no other reason to buy one, it's for the safety. They don't make cars as solid as a SAAB anymore. If your parents don't love you, they'll put you in a Hyundai.
