The radio was a custom unit made by Clarion, and labeled "SAAB-Clarion". This continued through the end of production of the Classic 900. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe they were installed at the port in the US, not in Trollhattan.
What came in a Canadian market car, I can't tell you. Perhaps another of the Canadian Saabers can help.
I do know that Swedish brochures show all sorts of radios in their cars of that era. A Radio was usually added by the dealer at purchase time, and the buyer has several to pick from.
