It can also be faulty engine mounts. The rubber can fail, and the nuts under the driveshaft tunnels can go missing, the 15mm bolts going up from below in the motor mounts can drop out....so, it can be a bunch of different things, but Nicknick has a good point, and one that to see it you need to get the car up in the air with a helper operating the gear selector.
Typically, the front mount can go, but can be trapped by putting an exhaust hanger between the U clamp and the top of the mount. The passenger side mount goes bad from heat. Lots and lots of written advise on this board about all of these topics.
