Does changing the base timing on a classic 900 turbo also change the "firing order" of the plugs, and is THAT a problem??? What would changing the "firing order" actually mean in real life drivability or longevity of the motor if anything? Does changing the base timing screw up the ECU fueling maps???
I went from the factory 16 degrees BTDC to 18, then tried 20. It seems you get more low end power at 20, alittle less at 18, but either change provides more low end power than the factory 16 degrees BTDC. I have an after market tweaked Vacuum advance/retard module, so I can still achieve ideal retard of timing under full turbo boost, so that's not an issue... Just wondering about changing base timing and it's effects negative or positive on drivability, engine longevity, and ECU potential problems?
