won't work without a lot of fabricating. 86-90 used the older style seats. Power was never an option with them. Later convertibles used the 9000 style seats. The earlier seats are better in my opinion. The seat bottom is rounded on the corners, and there are no seat back cables to break like on the later power seats. They also weigh less.
1988 is probably the best year for the 900 Convertible. Its the first year of the water cooled turbo and 9000 style brakes, which are much easier to deal with and use many more wheels 1988 convertibles don't have ABS or an Airbag. Both of which can be troublesome. 1988 also has lh2.2 injection which is less temperamental in my opinion, others would disagree with me about this. 1988 is also the first year for heated mirrors. They are nice if you use it when its cold.
1989 was a good year too. Its basically the same but has the larger pinion bearings in the 5spd. 1989 had a lot of problems with fuel injection ECUs. Our 1989 convertible is on its 3rd or 4th one. Our 1988 and 1987 convertibles are on their originals. All three have had the transmission rebuilt. They all look the same.
