try backing off your dash pot, (if you got one. not sure exactly when the change happened)
but when sitting at a stop light and the rpms immediately jump to 2000 and hold there, 1500-2000 is a default rmp range for the jetronic, being the motor had an uncontrolled sudden drop in idle, as in if your at the stop light and your motor suddenly drops to 500 rmp, for say a miss in a spent plug or the computer lost contact with its reading of the operating motor, the motor will immediately rebound to 1500-2000 and hold this rpm for a approximately 45sec. to a min. then it will ever so slowly drop 100 rpm at a time until it returns to the set rpm, unless the misfire or miss reading happens again which will put the rpms back at 2000
try cleaning the diss. rotor, and dis. cap points, plugs. then go out and get the motor nice and hot, then back off the dash pot and set the idle to 1000 or just under.
try spraying some electric cleaner in the wire harness plug that connects to the amm, and aic, spray the prongs in the aic and amm as well.
after all this it should run like a champ.
