how long are you storing the car for? Posted by Daryle [Email] (#98) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Daryle) on Wed, 26 May 2010 08:01:36 In Reply to: Storing the Saab, Caab89verty, Wed, 26 May 2010 07:20:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
When I winter store my CVT, I do not drain the oil. I change the oil when I removed the car from storage before starting it as the oil drains to the bottom much like turning over a ketchup bottle. I refill with fresh THEN start the car.
Seems to me draining the oil would only allow any seals to dry up causing you more problems (leaks) in the future.
How long are you planning to store the car? I have noticed with my 10 years of winter storage that the tires are showing signs of flat spots. Other than removing the battery and mothballing the all around to keep critters out, and covering the car, not much else to storing for me.
I guess it all depends on where the vehicle is stored and for how long.
