Distributor plug issue Experts please help me :( Posted by Dan [Email] (#2459) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Dan) on Wed, 2 Jun 2010 10:20:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have an 88 convertible 16v turbo that had a bad distributor connector on the distributor. I think it's the plug end that goes to the hall sensor (whatever that is). Anyway the plug broke off the side of the distributor by the rotor cap and someone wired it directly to the wiring harness. So far so good except I pulled out this motor and got a replacement from a 1990. It also has a broken plug on the distributor which is somewhat intact. I'm thinking of replacing the distributor to fix this but then I read a post on here that the wiring harness colors don't match the distributor wiring colors. Specifically that the green doesn't match the green wire. Any tips or thoughts on this would be very helpful. I'd hate to fry a new distributor because of a bad wire choice since I don't have the plug on the wiring harness side. You'd think I was disarming a nuclear bomb or something.
