Saab 900 Convertible Radio Removal Posted by Frank [Email] (#2509) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Frank) on Thu, 3 Jun 2010 17:18:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The right front speaker on my 1993 Saab 900 Cvt. is not producing any sound.
Got the speaker out, hooked it up to a meter and it reads fine. Took another (known working) 4 ohm speaker, connected it and also no sound.
So I'm thinking wire or head unit issue.
I pulled the head unit cleaned it up, lubricated the internal volume pot, but no joy.
Now it seems the radio that's pulled out (using the 4 holes) is just a sort of tuner/preamp and the amp for the front 2 is behind the head unit?
In short, how do I pull out what's behind the radio? All I see when I lok back there is the mail end of some plugs, and some capacitors through the metal cage for what looks to be an amp.
Worst case, it is possible to swap the head unit for an Alpine & keep the amplifier for the rear speakers in place?
Thanks!
