Gear spooling with clutch out.

My apologies for asking so many questions, but as I get to know my new car, I'm finding odd noises and things that I am curiously worried about...
If I pull the car out of gear and then let out the clutch, there is a faint whining of gears spinning up. When the clutch goes in the noise goes away.
Should I be worried about this - the clutch and transmission were replaced a year ago.
Suggestions?
