this is a cis right? - there ae plenty of things you need to check - including the aux air regulator, temp I and II sensors at or near the thermostat housing plus valve cover, the cold start valve and a couple of other items like the fuel pressure regulator near the thermostat
it may well be that you have a fuel pressure issue - which is hard to test without a proper gauge
my view - do not disassemble the fuel distributor
one thing that struck me is that you chose not to reinstate the hall effect system - if the wiring is there for it then why not use it - the igniter is more efficient and it help solve some of the starting issues
I strongly encourage you to run a test on each of these items separately - isolate the problem if you can and if at all possible try and eliminate them one by one as possible causes of your problem
check out any CIS website such as cabby info and the bad habit rabbit plus of course the bentley manual
