I just went through something similar with my '93. The head gasket on it was relatively new. Must have been replaced by the previous owner. Mine was leaking internally (and a little bit externally). I ran a compression test and was very low in one cylinder. When I went to pull the head, it was apparent that they did not torque the head bolts properly. They were way to easy to remove. This could possibly be what you are experiencing too.
Run a compression test first to see if you may have an issue. Then you can try taking your valve cover off and checking that the head bolts are torqued within spec. If they are not, tightening them may solve your problem.
If you have to DIY a head gasket job it's under $200. Over $1000 if you take it to a shop.
Perhaps the best first course of action is to just clean the area really well (Purple Power and a tooth brush works good) and then see if you can pinpoint exactly where the leak is after driving the car a bit. It may be something simple.
