Its just throwing ideas out there, and probably won't help with debug at all, but I'd first take off and clean any ground you can find. I'd also pull the lower trim off the column and pull the high-beam turn signal switch; look for a bundle of wires under the column that might be rubbing and breaking insulation apart.
I'm just thinking of how high beams & SRS are connected, and the obvious answer up front, is that both are within about 8" of each other on the column. Could be your hi-low beam switch is funky, and you somehow shorted out a bunch of stuff internally for a moment when you flashed your lights. It could be that the high beams and SRS share a harness from the column downward, and that a connection is loose, or a wire is pinched somewhere.
