I am not sure I know what you mean by reposting the story but Vern Parker is a professional journalist and holds a copyright on it; He used to write an auto column for the Washington (DC) Times newspaper.
The story is true and we still have all of the original paperwork that came with the car new - including the dealer's cardboard locator key fob!
The intention three years ago was just to re-commission the Saab and return it to daily service. I started by pulling out the engine/transmission to determine why the engine would not start. That turned into a full overhaul.
Then the search was on for a body & paint shop that could fix wheel arch rust and repaint in Cameo Beige (having never been hit, it was still in factory paint with all of her original body panels.) Somewhere along the way the project got away from me and we ended up with a practically new (again) 30-year-old Saab 900. I have lots of photos of the restoration but I don't know how to post them.
