Look on the printed circuit board for notes like TR with a number maybe written in gold colored marker. Look for any noted letter number combo added by marker, and it could tell who did the mod if the sequence is recognizable.
There are certain resistors that can be changed, and the trained eye can identify them. One easy way is to put in a known stock APC circuit board, and compare how the car performs between the two. If you like what it does, then keep it by all means!
