Would love to get her a C900 Posted by Notnoel [Email] (#23) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Notnoel) on Thu, 24 Nov 2011 06:11:55 In Reply to: lemmings, James, Thu, 24 Nov 2011 03:38:49 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
But my wife is adamant that we get her something with all wheel drive, that gets good gas mileage, and costs under $4,000. That sort of boxes me into Subarus (they are so plentiful it keeps the used car cost down), Toyota RAV4s, and Honda CRXs
Right now she is driving our old '89 Mercedes 300TE station wagon, which is a great car (has 285,000 mils on it), built like a tank, but has rear wheel drive. The conversation started when I saw a 1991 300TE AWD on CL that was an absolute beauty for only $2800 that only had 120K on it. My plan was to buy that one and sell the old one for about $1000-1500. Wife vetoed the plan because it only gets about 18 MPG.
I am still kicking my self (wish I'd just bought the Merc and been done with it. I've been looking for 2 months trying to meet her criteria and it is damn near impossible. Also a lot of very shady, fly by night, independent "dealers" on CL. I miss the old days when the only people who sold cars were real dealers, and people who took out an ad in the paper.
