Prepping my 86 spg for paint, found a very soft area in the floor behind the drivers and passenger seats, way worse than i had originally thought after chipping the rust proofing away ( both rear passenger foot wells). the drivers side is worse than the pass. side, i would say a 22" X 22" area will need to be completely cut out, and probably a 12" x 12" on the pass. side. [Is this usually caused by a clogged sunroof drain?]
In talking it over with my bodyshop, he wants to either cut good pans out from a donor car, or fabricate them from scratch and weld in. Would the floor pans match up from a '79 SAAB 99 by chance? Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated at this point. That seems to be the only rust issue that we've found. Hopefully we cut it back far enough to stay ahead of any further issues...and unclog that drain tube!!! The good news is that it gets covered by carpeting, and most people dont immediately look under the car.
