Hello,
I had to replace a door hindge on my 84 900 Turbo recently and I want to share what I learned with this great forum. If you haven't replaced one before, you will quickly notice that the door is very particular about how it is aligned against the body. There are two points that you can pivot upon, where the hinges bolt to the body, and the hinges bolt to the door itself.
What you do first is bolt the hinges to the body. There should be a small bolt that I would guess is there to help line up the whole show. They look like they take allen wrenches to remove them. There is only one, and it's through the lower hinge.
Then loosen the 6 bolts that hold the hinges to the door, but just enough to get some maneuvering room. I then bring the door against the body, but not enough to close it. (if you have to squeeze the handle to open it, it's too far closed) Then I take two small jacks and use them to lift the right and left side so I can adjust both sides to get it right where I want it. I used the other door as a point of reference.
Check the lines, the thin black strip, the lower thicker strip and the rest of the lines and curves of the body. Once it looks good up close and 20 feet away, crawl in through the other door and tighten the bolts that hold the hidges to the door. I was able to get the bottom three and one on top. (The lower dash pad was in the way of the other two bolts) It took me two tries to get it just right, but now you would never guess I had the thing apart.
