Luckily there are very few stories of arms breaking at speed compared to the numerous stories of breaking when backing out of the garage or parking spot turning the steering wheel fully.
What you admit though is that you don't take the car to a real shop for oil changes where they check the a-arms every time or that you do the oil changes yourself without checking the arms.
That's part of what I do at just a simple oil change. Check the inside of arms and use a screw driver to scratch across the area where the crack is most likely to happen to make it stand out.
Breaking of an a-arm is nothing that happens overnight but a process that has been going on for many years and miles so at some point, it would have been discovered.
I usually see the crack showing up when it is about 30-40% of the flat rear surface of arm. When the crack has reached the curved part I call it about 90% and after that it is no guarantees when the arm will break.
