Seems possible, but you're right - heat might be an issue. I didn't really think much about the heat when I made the comment about doing the job with the part still on the car.
On the other hand, that thick shaft and collar shaft is going to absorb a lot of heat (note that the paint is not damaged except in the immediate vicinity of the weld. From the Twinsaabs site, it looks like removing the rubber bushings on these is a major PITA.
Each side seems to basically have four welds and each looks like it'd go pretty quick. I'd be curious how much heat impacted the bushing if you were to cool it off between each weld. All in all though, if you were to do this (and take that much time), you might as well take it off the car and do the job on the bench.
