You own an AMC Eagle? That is 100% awesome!
IME AAP pretty much sucks. I do in fact order from them because their discounts can be totally amazing, but I have little to no faith in their ability to execute anything properly. I've received some really bizarre mis-ships in the past, including a pair of Nissan/Infiniti wheel bearings when I ordered a power steering box for my Firebird. That was a fun phone conversation.
That said, in AAP's defense, I wouldn't be too critical of their inability to deliver good remanufactured brake calipers for a car that was sold in small volume 25 years ago. That's a tall order for anyone, and I wouldn't necessarily expect anyone do better. The part # scribbling is par for the course for old car parts, and it's not like people are making new pistons so remanufacturers are surely scraping the bottom of the barrel for serviceable used ones by now. You should see some of the parts that I get for my '67 Cadillac or '62 Ford - boxes that look like they've survived wars with inventory stickers and stamps from dozens of warehouses.
I'm sure eeuro is a little more conscientious (and knowledgeable) about this type of stuff, but I've received my fair share of mismarked or misrepresented parts... like Scantech master cylinders instead of advertised Lockheed ones. Fact is, parts for these old cars are getting scarce. It's only gonna get worse.
