Sandy -- you are driving that car way too much. How can the LSD even work if you don't put some miles on that car??
Check the sender with an ohm meter per the Bentley instructions and you might find out it is OK, and something else is the problem.
Did you change the fuel pump at any time? Check to see which side the return plumbing is on the bottom of the pump, and forgive me if I forgot that you have the early style pump.
One time, my fuel gauge was acting funny, and after a dose of Seafoam, things returned to normal. The dosage was per the instructions on the container as I recall. Probably a third of a can in the tank. It might have dissolved some kind of gheeebah that was stuck to the LVDT type sensor on the slide.
