"Base Boost" - Very interesting twist (but long). Posted by B Millar [Email] (#1109) [Profile/Gallery] (more from B Millar) on Sun, 25 Mar 2012 21:09:25 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Okay, so the new clutch slave is in. Very smooth installation; nothing note-worthy. Bleeding the clutch took some massaging and ended up being a three and a half person job, but we got it done. It's always good to have a few good Saab friends willing to give up a Sunday afternoon to help you out!
Anywayyyy... after I got all the intake plumbing back on (what a fun little brain-teaser that is) I took the car around the block for a test drive with the hood off. Got on the gas in second and the boost needle rocketed up into the red and the car FLEW. I got all excited that in taking all the intake stuff off and putting it back maybe I had sealed a leak. Put the hood back on... and I'm back to no boost. The gauge only gets to mid-yellow.
In the car, I pull the hood-release so it pops up a little. Boost is back! ZOOM ZOOM!! Latch the hood; no boost. My good friend Luke stuck around and we played around with stuff for a good couple hours. We moved the APC solenoid valve down from atop the radiator thinking the hood was closing on it and messing with it. No change. I thought maybe the hood liner was getting sucked against the intake so I took the intake off and ran it with just the AMM open. No boost with the hood closed. I can't see any vacuum lines getting pinched or in the way.
We gave up for tonight; it's dark and I was tired. I'm sure something will eventually present itself but if anyone has any good suggestions to look for I would appreciate it.
