Smog questions, '93 900 turbo in Colorado Posted by DHehnke [Email] (#862) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DHehnke) on Mon, 23 Jul 2012 18:42:45 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello. I believe I may have belonged to this forum several years ago when I owned a '71 95 wagon, but I'm not sure! Anyway, hello to all the fellow SAAB lovers.
Lately I finally found a good 900 turbo after my favorite car ever, my '88 900 turbo was stolen about a year ago. I recently found a black '93 900 turbo hatch with about 160k on it that is in pretty darn good shape. It looked bad from oxidation and neglect from sitting in a storage yard for a while, but after some clean up and polish the body is obviously straight and looks pretty awesome paint-wise.
Anyway, it runs awesome, and I've done the normal things like change oil, plugs, fuel filter, checked air filter (nice K&N and looks fine), put some Techron in the fuel to clean some things out, replace some old vacuum lines that looked sketchy.
The only thing that worries me before taking it to emissions is after accelerating and then quickly letting off the gas, you get a slight gargling/sputtering sound from the exhaust that sounds kind of cool, but makes it sound like it's running rich at that point, and worries me a bit for emissions. Offhand does anyone know if this is normal, or if this is likely to fail me in the emissions test? I don't remember my '88 doing this, but I could be wrong. Any help is appreciated, and sorry for the long first post!
