trunk hold down rings ?

My kid called me yesterday and said that his 2000 Suzuki DR200 broke down and he was about 30 miles away..

I told him it sucked to be him, but I would drive out there in my 85 900 and see if we could stick it in

I figured if nothing worked I would rent a trailer

looked at the bike, and the hatch clearance measured what would happen if we took off the wheel and the handlebars, no way, stuck it in backwards and saw that it was about 6 inches too tall

took a hold down strap and compressed the rear spring until we could shove it in, wrapped another around the front brake lever and bumper,

Why are there no hold down rings like there are the 9000 or 9-3 ?
