Lowes now sells a "V" shaped 3/4 in. high temp plastic plumbing fitting that one inserts into the two disconnected heater hose ends, with clamps, that takes out the whole heating system and still allows the coolant to circulate through the hoses. (as does a closed heater core valve) I've never figured out if it's wise to completely shut off that circulation. Anyone know the answer to this? Heater core valves can leak internally when off filling the heater core with hot fluid and you get a lot of hot air through the vents even if the fan is off. Re-connect for the winter until the tiny "O"ring leaks and dumps hot coolant all over your feet!
