I posted here a few weeks ago about a low reading fuel gauge in my 1991 C900. At fill up it reads just above 3/4 tank and reserve light comes on after driving only about 220 miles. Las t week I pulled the sensor from the tank right about when the reserve light came on and found 3.5" of petrol in the tank. I took resistance readings off the sending unit and the numbers both high and low were spot on to the spec. Moving the float manually gave me the same readings as what I was seeing during normal driving. Just for fun I fitted another sending unit from a parts car and it behaved exactly like the one I had. I can put over 5.5 gallons in the tank when the reserve light illuminates,so basically it's telling me to fill up when I can still drive at least 150 miles! For now I'm just using the reserve light as a reminder to think about getting gas, and not as a reason to panic - but is there any further way to adjust the gauge?
