Solid rubber engine mounts: 8v and 16v interchangeable?

I have a simple question: I have a very early (1986) 16v 900, which came with solid rubber engine mounts. I have found, in my box of parts, a couple of motor mounts whose part numbers indicate that they are for the 8v cars. I am wondering if I can put these 8v mounts on my 16v car. They look exactly the same as the ones I have on there. Why are there different part numbers? Is there even any difference?
I've searched all the SAAB forums I know and only come back with ambiguous responses and inconclusive data. I look to any experts here to guide me.
