All of these regardless of the actuator arm number have approximately a .050" gap from the actuator arm and the retard stop so that's not the way it's supposed to be. Maybe someone has bent the retard stop (the wrong way!)? You could try bending it back away from the arm, the best gap to shoot for is .090" which allows the extra retard needed to run 20 degrees BTDC rather than the standard setting of 16 BTDC. It's best of course to have one of mine where I cut them open and install a stronger retard side spring to slow the retard curve down. For now maybe just bend the stop until you have the standard .050" gap.
