I've seen this problem on pre-88 style brakes. Something gets seized and piston will not retract fully. I have a pile of used pads and stuck in something that fit. It usually means that the caliper is foobar and will need to be rebuilt or replaced soon. (Usually when this happens the caliper is not rebuildable)
