Hi Sam, The magic number to remove from "the thicker part of the arm" is .040". Remember that the biggest problem with these is that they retard too quickly, pretty much all at once so removing X from the arm where it contacts the stop doesn't address the real problem! My modified units have the arm machine -.040" and I go to a much stronger spring than even an 010 distributor's ignition module uses to get the retard curve right.
