I've now had a closer look now my visitors have gone. I cleaned the barrel and to my surprise the very bottom of the barrel - where the pin goes through has broken off. This then allows the working part of the barrel to be pulled out with the key. The only long term solution is to replace the barrel - but now I will have the extra bit left in which I have to remove. In the meantime I am holding the barrel in place when withdrawing the key. Any ideas welcome. Also how difficult is it to code the barrel to the original key code?
