radiator fan non-function... Posted by Baggsly [Email] (#2350) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Baggsly) on Mon, 21 Jan 2013 09:28:14 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Can anyone give me a step by step instruction of where to check and in what order and what to check and/or expect? Yes, I've read through the archives, but I'm still confused!
It's a 1990T, and as I was sitting in a parking lot a few nights ago, I luckily noticed after some time that the temp. gauge was above 3/4 approaching the red zone.
I popped the hood, and lo & behold, no fans, not one, not two. So I read, and tried to investigate, but electrics are not my strong suit.
I checked the battery, good voltage there. I checked fuse 25 and that was OK. I checked the fans from the battery, both run w/ 12V. I put the jumper on the fan timer relay (in the fuse box position G #30 & #87) and it reads 12V on both sides when I do that.
Do I have to do something with terminal 31T (big spade) on that timer relay position? I think that goes to the radiator switch, but not sure? I haven't lifted the fuse box panel out of the box yet.
I did jump the two rad fan switch connections (blue/blk), but I did not get the fans to run when I did that. But again, from #30 & 87 jumpered, not from #31T. Did I need to have that jumpered for rad switch short to work?
What about fuse #22? What do I do there? At the end of the testing procedure it says "if you have timer relay check fuse 22 and relay.." How do I check if the relays are functioning, is there a test procedure for that?
Help please!
Mark :-(
