I was going to put up a garage until my wife found out how much it costs. (Like Ralph Kramden says, "just remember when you say 'I do' it's the last decision you'll ever make!")
I used a cover on one of my cars and it worked the first winter but after that I think the cover sped up the deterioration of the paint so I've lost my enthusiasm for covers. I think the cover accumluated dirt/funk from the atmosphere and wind beat the hell out of the paint.
As far as friends and family go I've already tried that. Have you ever heard on Car Talk how Tommy abandoned a car at Ray's house - the Rambler convertible? I essentially did that to my brother. Not on purpose of course. Someone gave me a 1986 base model that needed a little bit of work. I was in grad school at the time so I asked my brother if I could store it at his place until I had time to work on it. That was in 1999 and I haven't had time to pick it up yet. (It's outside so it isn't taking up garage space).
A 94 classic convertible is the end of an era so I hate to give it up but I can't stand to let it get beat up outside either. A true dilemma...
