Thoroughly drain manual gearbox Posted by Bill S [Email] (#1209) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill S) on Sun, 17 Feb 2013 19:35:35 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Going to do an oil change on a manual box, to put in Redline MTL. Don't know what's in there now (whatever PO used), and I want to get as much of the old stuff out as possible. I've read that when you drain the box some stays in the chain case, and to make matters worse (maybe) this is the later style box with no drain plug (I'll pull the diff cover to drain).
Can anyone recommend the best way to drain the box as much as possible, so that I have as little mixing of the oils as possible? I could do a 2nd oil change soon to help flush, but at $15/qt I'd rather not go through the oil any faster than I need to (beats a gearbox replacement, tho...).
