That's a good way to put it! We degree the cam(s) in on every engine we build one way or another! On 16 valve Saab's we use to use Damien S's two piece sprockets that were infinitely adjustable however he no longer makes them. I've got two Saab engines coming up to build so I'll degree their cams the way I've been doing them after Damien's sprockets were no longer available. Once both cams are degree'd I lineup the drive key on each sprocket one at a time in my rotary table and then go180 degrees less whatever changes are necessary and machine the sprocket for a drive dowel then machine out the old drive key in a lathe and of course remove the old timing mark and add the new one. I'll take photos when I do the next pair and post them in my 900 Aero photo gallery!
