Man, that could be any of twenty different things but taking into account all the details of your post I'd bet that one (or both) of the tripod bearings has a serious problem. Not necessarily the inner driver, just the tripod bearing. One or more rollers is missing some or all of it's needles. I recently saw a "rebuilt" axle that had a tripod bearing on it that looked like it came out of my trash can. If it's a transaxle problem then it's a pretty serious one and it won't last much longer. Did you check the nuts and studs that hold the motor mount perches to the frame and that the brackets are securely bolted to the engine? Did you inspect the motor mount brackets for cracks? Could be a clutch problem too, like a contaminated disc.
