Unfortunately photos don't tell much about a transmission, unless its condition is very bad.
You can tell some things by grabbing the internal shafts and seeing if they have any play (either sideways or end-to-end). Much better is to pull it apart and inspect things and take measurements (of synchro wear, for example). Although there are some cases, like bad-but-not-awful pinion bearings, where the only diagnostic options are to hear it making noise when driven, or take it apart so far that you'll have to replace parts (the crush sleeve) to put it back together. At that point, you might as well just replace the bearings!
