I had this happen to me and the crankshaft chewed the oil seal lip spring into little pieces that got sucked up by oil pump, gouging that, and tripping the low oil pressure light after getting stuck in the oil pressure bypass valve in the timing cover. Even using the factory seal press tool 8392540, I recommend putting a strip of clear packing tape over tool where seal lip slides and edge of crank seal and greasing it to prevent seal lip from catching. After installed, remove tool and the tape. Another problem occurs with some seals that have rubber extending all the width of the outer diameter, which makes it difficult to center seal in alloy end plate without tilting seal off axis.
