The two lines going into the rack are aluminum and the rack housing is aluminum no rust issues there, both them lines are high pressure and they can leak. There is a small rubber o ring slipped onto the ends of the metal lines before their screwed into the rack, these o rings can rot and when they do everytime the steering wheel is turned a steady squirt of power steering fluid will spray from the connection, if this is happening the metal line can be unscrewed and the o ring replaced and rescrewed back to the rack.
You need to be very certain when screwing the line back to the rack that its not cross threaded. The rack has very, very fine threads and can strip out very easy. When I did this I was visiting my indie and we had it up on the lift, my indie didn't want to screw in the metal line for fear of stripping the threads. Because if they do strip new rack time. Just take your time and make sure its correct before wrenching it back on.
May the force be with you, cuz your going to need it
