I'm not that familiar with newer GM cars, but you probably should figure out what the connections are on that alternator before proceeding. The alternators in some newer cars are controlled by the engine's ECU and might be hard to make work standalone.
On the other hand, I know conceptually it's possible - I put an early 1980's GM alternator on my 99! But that one wired up pretty easily - the only quirk was an external voltage-sensing connection that could just be hooked to the output terminal.
