I used a thin, outdoor-rated, pressure sensitive adhesive foam tape made by 3M, which was similar to the adhesive that was on the backs of my (used) brackets when I got them. Don't know if what was on them was original or not, but it looked "factory". Had to remove the old stuff with a heat gun and a lot of patience. It was a little tricky to position the brackets under the window molding *then* set the adhesive, but possible. They're on there good and solid now. I did edge seal the lower brackets with *black* silicone RTV, but I masked the glass first and laid in a very narrow bead, radiused it with my finger and peeled back the masking to make a clean edge -- barely detectable.
