junkyard SPG mounting rails & retainer removal... Posted by Baggsly [Email] (#2350) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Baggsly) on Fri, 11 Oct 2013 11:18:54 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
So, how do you get those white retainers that are in the body panels out in a junkyard car?
I see they're sort of barbed square pegs, and you have to squeeze the backside "bulge" to get it out the hole. But when I tried with channel lock pliers, they wouldn't move.
Is there a trick to getting these things out in one piece? Heating them with a torch and pushing them out? Should they come out "easily", or is it more a matter of 1 out of 3 will be broken/destroyed?
Is there a current available replacement from the auto parts stores? Something like those little clamshell packs of trim retainers by the nuts & bolts?
Mark :-)
