a long flat blue box, I've used that before.
I find it to be easier to mould/crush if it's a bit warmer. Sunny day, sitting on dash type warming. Or in your case, sitting on top of heat vent in house this time of year.
Perhaps that windshield caulking stuff that doesn't set up hard but remains gooey? Might that work?
