Winter beater electrical again Posted by CBS [Email] (#969) [Profile/Gallery] (more from CBS) on Tue, 26 Nov 2013 14:43:44 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hope some of you remember my previous Winter beater post. Anyway, I thoroughly went through the wire bundle that runs on the floor to the right of the drivers seat. No sign of melting or wear.
The latest is that I ran it for 20 minutes -- it was a bit hard starting and took a little out of the new battery -- and shut it off. Then tried an immediate restart. Battery died at three cranks. The assumption being the alternator wasn't charging the new battery during those 20 minutes. So, I'm wondering if my electrical gremlins after replacing floor under the drivers seat (wipers don't work, no turn signals, no tach, some back lights don't work, ect.) are from the alternator? Is that possible? When I get the battery charged up (from a charger) I'll see if I'm getting the usual 14+ volts at battery. Could there be any tie in with the alternator and these electrical problems?
I also haven't managed to find the A-pillar ground behind the dash. It's too darn cold (18*F and dark out now) to mess with getting the knee bolster out.
Winter is coming Jon Snow.
