I'm not sure how long they last, but I have had to replace the side hydraulic mounts on non-turbos. There has usually been an obvious vibration or pronounced hum in the cabin at a specific RPM range, such as between 1500-2000 RPM. Also, the mounts can collapse, leaving very little or no gap between the attaching bracket and the metal housing of the mount. If the mount is healthy the center bolt it will hold the attached bracket about 1/2" or more away from the body of the mount (i.e: holds the engine up by at least 1/2"). You may also have poor shifting that cannot be improved by adjusting the lever and linkage, although this can also be attributed to a worn out gearbox.
